Come and join Birmingham Choral Union for a Day of Song!

We are thrilled that this workshop will be led by Emily Dickens, internationally established singer (VOCES8 etc) and choral director (St. Martin-in-the-Fields etc).

After a super warm-up we will be learning a range of pieces by women composers through the centuries.

Singers of all voice parts will be warmly welcomed!

The Workshop

Both the Day and the music focus solely on pieces from women composers across the ages. These have been arranged to suit all vocal ranges, and we look forward to welcoming a wide variety of voices and singers. Starting with engaging warm-up exercises, Emily will help us work together as a new group of singers before leading us through a selection of works from an exciting new publication, Choral Music Composed by Women.

The Venue

Selly Oak Methodist Church has been chosen for this event to accommodate a range of needs. With free parking onsite and in the surrounding streets, it’s suitable for those arriving by car. The nearest train station is Selly Oak, just a 16-minute walk away. The venue is also accessible by bus with the 61, 63, X21, 11A, and 11C routes all serving the area. Access to the building is step free.

What is provided

We will provide light refreshments but you will need to bring your own lunch. We will also provide the music you will need for the workshop. We will be singing from Choral Music Composed by Women. For more information, please click this link (opens in a new tab).
