A WOODLAND ART EXPERIENCE SUITABLE FOR ALL THE FAMILY!

Spend the day in the great outdoors having fun and enjoying the festivities with your family group (or bubble). You will join our taster workshops and select a few key activities you would like to undertake e.g. Willow Craft, Wood Art, Pyrography, Wood Carving, a selection of heritage crafts and much more! 

Lorraine and Ruth welcome you to Birtley Woodland Art Space, a place to relax and enjoy being in the great outdoors. Our woodland art space is nestled within the woodland beyond the lake on the Birtley Estate in Bramley, a beautiful Surrey Hills location. It is so picturesque here, with its lakes, gardens and woodland walks, not surprisingly it is classified as an "AONB" an area of outstanding natural beauty!

Take a look at some of the activities you can choose from on the day, everyone should be able to undertake at least 3 activities, some will make more, it will depend on your own ability, the crafts of choice and how much time you wish to spend on them!

From walking sticks to little birds, once you learn the addictive technique used for Whittling your only limitation is your imagination! 

You can be creative with different forms of Wood Art including Wood Carving, Pyrograpy and Wood Painting.

You can learn how to make a Hair Wreath, Bird Feeder, Mini-Obelisk or Dream Catcher and everyone will love the simple but mindful activity of making God's Eyes, we may even ask you to make some extra one's to hang in our trees!

You can picnic alongside one of the lakes within the Birtley Estate , we can take a stroll together along the woodland path and we also have not one but two campfires where you can sit and toast marshmallows!

Ruth has 20 years of experience running SCULPT it; Ruth has a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art and Philosophy and dedicates her time between delivering Art Workshops in the Community and creating a successful Wood Art range, using locally sourced Surrey Wood.

Husband and Wife team and founders of Hedges & Hurdles, Lorraine and Paul Matthews are passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills with others, encouraging people to discover a newfound love for nature and the outdoors!

Lorraine & Paul offer “Experiences”, including Hedgelaying and Wattle Hurdle Making training courses, heritage skills undertaken during the autumn and winter months through to hands-on Wood Craft, Willow Craft and Bushcraft workshops delivered throughout the year. Seasonal materials are used to make crafts, cut and harvested locally as part of a sustainable woodland management programme.

You may request a full refund up to 30 days prior to the event start date and 50% up to 2 weeks prior to the event start date. No refunds are available if you cancel within two weeks of the event start date.

If the course is cancelled by the organiser for any reason we will contact you as soon as possible and will always endeavour to reschedule your booking for another date, however, if this is not possible a full refund will be provided.
