It’s a BIYA BIYA Birthday! Join us at Solidarity Studios for a Live Music Show & Zine Launch celebrating the beginning of BIYA BIYA Productions, a local Creative Agency and Production House for artists.
The evening features live music, dance, zine vending, and small bites. Join us for a taste of home with our sweet line-up:
HEADLINER: TAYF, an ensemble bringing fresh voices and ideas to the musical tradition of maqam. Combining musicians from the SWANA region and beyond, the group expands the standard repertoire while maintaining a connection to its members' roots, delivering an innovative and spacious sound.
Müsila, guitarist and singer-songwriter inspired by traditional Sri Lankan music and haunted by the spirit of the Blues and Americana
Dr. Aliah Ajamoughli, Syrian American ethnomusicologist, cellist, educator. Her musical style intertwines seemingly two opposing worlds: the folk tunes of her fatherland Syria with medleys of her Alabama upbringing.
Raqs sharqi/bellydance by Yasmeen
Food by NIYYAH Chef Sabrina Beydoun
Doors 7 p.m. / Show 7:30 p.m.

About the zine: "Have you eaten?" (visit IG for a look: @yasmin.zacaria)
This 8-page zine is built from a single 18x24 inch sheet of Speckletone paper, and opens into a warm mess of collaged plates full of food and memories. On the other side, you'll find deft prose echoing the anthem "Have you eaten yet?" Steeped in nostalgia and community, this zine centers food-making and breaking as some of the fiercest action-oriented love across cultures.
Lovingly screeprinted in Chicago with The Bird Machine.
Edition of 190.
