BIYA BIYA: Block Printing Workshop

Come come and join us for a Block Printing Workshop! 

This 3-hour workshop led by artist Yasmeen Khayr will walk us through the basics of linoleum block printing, including designing, carving, and printing original prints. All skill levels are welcome and all materials will be provided for use in session! Grounded in the traditions of printmaking, participants will be encouraged to reflect on the past year, consider new goals for the new year, or envision our collective futures. We hope this space will be one of collective art-making, communal healing, and visioning of better worlds!

MEET THE FACILITATOR: 

Yasmeen Khayr (she/her) is a Lebanese, Muslim artist based in Rogers Park. She loves the use of art as a release of creative energy and exploring the ways in which art can facilitate emotional processing and expression. She is inspired by the power of communal art making and imagining new worlds through artmaking. Yasmeen plays with linoleum block printing, embroidery, painting, and mixed media, and is always down for trying new art mediums. Yasmeen facilitates art workshops and is also currently pursuing a degree in art therapy!

Doors open at 11:30pm to grab snacks and mingle with fellow makers. The workshop will begin promptly at 12pm.
