The movie starts at 21:00. The bar opens for drinks and music from 19:00. Pizzas and popcorn are available from 20:00. We always recommend bringing a warm jacket and/or blanket.

Venue Information:

Arroz Estúdios is a members-only, non-profit Cultural Association based in the Beato area of East Lisbon. If you're not already a member of the club, a 1-year membership is just €3 (cash only) at the door.

Food, drinks, and popcorn are available before, during, and after the film. The bar has a wide range of beer, wine, cocktails, and soft drinks. The kitchen serves delicious, authentically-made wood fire pizza. Please note, it's cash only for pizza and popcorn!

Movie Information:

Plot: A two-hour historical drama about gay activism in the late 1980s/early 1990s – with subtitles! – might sound like a hard sell, but French writer-director Robin Campillo’s 120 Beats Per Minute is also a deep house opera, an urgent, steamy love story and a jubilant battle cry that demands to be witnessed. Centring on the activist group Act Up-Paris, an offshoot of the Aids Coalition to Unleash Power that started in New York in 1987, it serves as a snapshot of those who resisted in the early days of the disease’s global pandemic. The film lives its “politics in the first person”, showing how Act Up lobbied for legislation, research and treatment for those with HIV/Aids, while also tracking a tender romance between two of its members.

This French modern classic, which won the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes Film Festival, is selected as our Lisbon Pride Week 2022 special.

Sinopse: À medida que a epidemia de SIDA atravessava a sua comunidade no início dos anos 90, os membros da ACT UP Paris lutavam pela sobrevivência. Enquanto lutavam contra a apatia governamental, a ganância farmacêutica e a ignorância pública, também saíam para festejar, debater política e, ocasionalmente, apaixonarem-se. Um dia, enquanto o radical Sean (Nahuel Pérez Biscayart) iniciava uma conversa com o tímido estreante Nathan (Arnaud Valois), não faziam ideia de que as suas vidas estavam prestes a mudar para sempre.

Este clássico moderno francês, que ganhou o Grande Prêmio do Júri no Festival de Cannes, é selecionado como o nosso especial Lisboa Pride Week 2022.
