Black History Month Special: Community Grow Day!

This month, we honour our roots — both literally and culturally. Join us as we prepare the land for its winter rest and recovery, share delicious warm food, and celebrate community through hands-on learning, care for the soil, and care for each other. 

Activities:

• Seed sowing & saving — celebrating harvest and exploring winter crops to sow.
• Bed clearing — a soothing, mindful task with music and hot drinks, plus a fun playful competition.
• Wood chipping pathways — a grounding, active task to keep you warm this autumn.
• Continuing to help build @plantiejade mud kitchen project - creating a fun, safe space for families to enjoy together!

What to bring:

• Appropriate clothing for cold or wet weather
• Water bottle to stay hydrated
• Comfortable shoes — hiking trainers, wellies, or boots
• Plastic bags to cover your shoes if it gets muddy

PLEASE NOTE: If you can't join this session we encourage you to volunteer whenever you have the time - simply send us an email and we will organise a day with you. Please reach out to us via DM or email if you live nearby and would like to volunteer regularly - we need hands!

ABOUT BLACK GROWTH MARKET GARDEN: We are inviting you to get involved in another Black Growth Community Day at Roots Allotment in Meadow Hill, Croydon. In 2024, we announced that we are building a Market Garden to address food insecurity, promote sustainable farming practices, and create a space for community learning and engagement. The Market Garden is at the heart of Black Growth CIC's mission in developing the current food system, particularly within London's Black population, by improving access to fresh, nourishing food and supporting overall wellbeing.
