🌱Join Us for our Monthly Community Day! 🌱

Participate in land-based activities. Activities may include:

• Seed sowing

• Transplanting

• Site building & maintenance 

• Veg bed preparation & building 

• Arts & Crafts

🛍️ Shop at our farm stall. Dependent on seasonality and availability, we are excited to offer this season:

• Fresh veg - if you’d like you can even harvest yourself! 

• Plug plants 

• Seeds

• Chutneys

• And more! 

🥗 Share food in community. Meal time is our favourite! While you are encouraged to bring your own food, the impromptu culture of potluck sharing has inspired many to bring food for others as well. Depending on capacity and seasonal availability, the team may even provide a farm-fresh salad and some other bits and pieces.

What to bring:

• Appropriate clothing 👕 We encourage warm layers and weatherproof clothing. The site can be cool and windy, and, weather-permitting, most of our time will be spent outdoors.

• Comfortable shoes 🥾 Please consider wearing hiking trainers, wellies, or boots that you are comfortable getting dirty and that work on uneven terrain. If your shoes are not waterproof, consider bringing plastic bags in case it gets muddy! 

• Food and plenty of water 🥤 There is no drinking water on site so please bring enough for the day. If you are bringing food to share, please be conscientious of allergens.

Accessibility Our site requires accessibility improvements for wheelchair users, particularly as it is on uneven terrain. While we continue working on safety and accessibility upgrades, please contact us to discuss accommodations for your needs.

ABOUT BLACK GROWTH MARKET GARDEN: We are inviting you to get involved in another Black Growth Community Day at Roots Allotment in Meadow Hill, Croydon. In 2024, we announced that we are building a Market Garden to address food insecurity, promote sustainable farming practices, and create a space for community learning and engagement. The Market Garden is at the heart of Black Growth CIC's mission in developing the current food system, particularly within London's Black population, by improving access to fresh, nourishing food and supporting overall wellbeing.
