Recently in London, over 100,000 marched for Tommy Robinson in the largest far-right demonstration in British history. Reform are leading in the polls and are pledging to retrospectively end Indefinite Leave To Remain for over 400,000 residents in Britain. In the face of this alarming rise of the far right and organised state abandonment, our communities are our greatest strength. We are building a network of mutual protection to defend Black and migrant communities and push the far-right back.
Join our interactive and collaborative event, Here to Stay Here to Fight, How We Resist the Far Right on the 30th of October. We will focus on how we use this moment to build an organised response. To lead this discussion, we have brought together a panel rich in knowledge, lived experience, and strategies of resistance who will help inform and shape the action needed in these difficult times. Confirmed speakers include:
- Zainab Abbas, founding member of the Brixton Black Women’s group and a pivotal figure in the 1970s and 80s Black Power movement here in Britain
- Taj Ali (@taj.ali1) journalist and historian who has spent the past year since the riots supporting communities impacted up north
- Kojo Kyerewaa, Black Lives Matter UK National organiser, Black Lives Matter UK National organiser, will be sharing the goals and initial strategy of our new anti-racist network.
- The event will be chaired by Jess Mally (@jessmally) , co-founder of Awethu School of Organising, anti-racism educator, consultant, writer, speaker, podcast host and creative producer.
- Aderonke Apata, founder of the African Rainbow Family, an LGBT charity, led organised resistance in Yarls Wood Immigration Detention Centre and now barrister.
