Guided Walk Exploring Plant Folklore

Friday 24th July 10am-1pm

Do you know what’s growing all around you? Learn the secrets of the plant world by joining experienced herbologist Jay to explore the folklore, ecology and history of things you’ve been walking past all of your life, as you deepen your connection with the Welsh landscape and its past.

Your Guide

Jay has been vegan for 25 years and has foraged across different continents. After making banchan and doenjang using traditional methods in Korea, working in Germany’s largest organic-certified and ayurvedic kitchen, and gathering wild herbs in the Andes, Jay returned to the UK to complete a Diploma in Herbology at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and an introduction to permaculture with the Permaculture Association.

Practical Info

Open to: All welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by adults at all times

What to bring: Clothes for the weather, e.g. waterproofs, umbrella, sturdy shoes, hat, suncream

Accessibility: The path from the car park is mostly sealed and either flat or gently sloped. Suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. 

Distance: Walk of approx. 1.5 miles / 2.4km at a slow pace, stopping often to forage and talk.

About This Event

This is a free public education session, funded by the RCTCBC Food Support Fund and delivered by Black Mountains College who offer Welsh Government-funded land-based courses from campuses in Treherbert and Talgarth.
