Bats and Evening Sounds Walk
Sat 1st August 7:30-9:30pm
Explore nighttime wildlife right in the middle of Pontypridd by looking for bats and listening for owls as part of Wales Nature Week. Join our experts from Craig y Rhondda as we use our eyes, ears and hand-held detectors to make our discoveries.
Your tutors
Alex and Ethan are experienced and qualified ecologists working for local conservation organisation Craig y Rhondda, whose mission is to empower communities to work together to protect wildlife, restore habitats, celebrate heritage, and build a sustainable future for both nature and people.

Pontypridd bus station is a two-minute walk and train station is a five-minute walk.
Practical Info
Open to: All welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by adults at all times.
What to bring: Clothes for the weather, e.g. waterproofs, umbrella, warm layers, sturdy shoes, hat
Accessibility: The path from Gas Road car park to Ynysangharad Park has a slope that may require people to push wheelchair users up. From there, the footbridge over the river and the park itself are sealed and flat footpaths. An accessible toilet can be found in Gatto Lounge.
Distance: Walk of approx. 1 mile / 1.6km at a slow pace, stopping often to listen and talk.

This is a free public education session, funded by RCTCBC and delivered by Black Mountains College who offer Welsh Government-funded land-based courses from campuses in Treherbert and Talgarth.
