Join us for a powerful screening of Mikey, one of the four docufilms in the Project HEAL series—a deeply personal and urgent story about injustice, grief, and the fight to heal.

Mikey – a story by Tippa Naphtali
In 2003, Mikey Powell died after being restrained by West Midlands Police during a mental health crisis. He was a father, a son, and a loved member of his community. Told through the voice of his cousin, Tippa Naphtali, this film reveals the long-lasting impact of state violence and the tireless pursuit of justice.

Mikey is a deeply moving exploration of injustice, remembrance, and the strength of a community determined to heal and honour those we've lost.

🎥 The film screening will be followed by a live Q&A and discussion segment.

🖤 This isn’t just a film—it’s a space to acknowledge pain, honour the lives affected, and support each other on the journey toward healing.

🌟 This event will also mark the official Birmingham launch of the Time2Heal app—a digital tool created by and for the Black community.

Rooted in our shared experiences, the app offers culturally grounded resources for emotional wellbeing, personal healing, and restorative practices.
It tailors its content to each user’s needs—depending on what they’ve faced or are currently facing—with book recommendations, services, guided audios and videos, and daily affirmations.

Time2Heal is for us. It supports navigating trauma, adversities, and healing—with strength, dignity, and collective care at its core.

🔞 Viewer discretion is advised. This event is 16+ only due to sensitive content.

🎟 To attend, please register for a free ticket.

We look forward to welcoming you at the event.
