Edinburgh Fringe Preview~Gabey Lucas: A Berkshire Boar Walks Into a Bar (And Gets Shot in the Face)

Watsup friends, Nate here with a unique experience for us as islanders...i was contacted by Gabey Lucas, a Seattle based stand up comic who has special show they want to debut here, a show about the Pig War! i said "but of course", so its happening. Gabey is bringing an opener so come join us for a (probably) once in a lifetime experience celebrating a piece of our island history in comedy form.

You see, "witty yet strangely informative" comedian Gabey Lucas (Rip City Comedy Festival, Martin Foundation Full Artist 2020 finalist) just wants to talk to you about hard-hitting subjects like unicorn propaganda, snake abs, and kidnapping Abe Lincoln – who could totally beat the crap out of Alexander The Great, by the way. Unfortunately, to do so she first has to stop getting sidetracked by the silliest pig-based almost-war in human history. She's not great at that. The end result is almost certainly the first Edinburgh Fringe show of all time with multiple San Juan Island cameos, although we haven't fact-checked that.

Formerly the humor columnist for The Ubyssey in Vancouver, Gabey currently writes for SB Nation and has performed from New Zealand to New Orleans to North Macedonia including at Hell Yes Fest and the Ohrid Summer Comedy Marathon. She was also named one of the 2020 Full Artists by Steve Hofstetter's Martin Foundation, but it turns out February 2020 was quite bad timing for something of that nature. Her only true ambition was to be on Drunk History before it ended, where she would've told the story of Washington's Ivy League-upending, Nazi-beating 1936 crew team.
