The new B Corp standards look bigger than they are. Most people meet the new B Corp standards by opening the tool and scrolling. It's the fastest way to conclude that certification has become a much bigger job than it used to be.

It hasn't, but that's hard to discover on your own!

B Local BC is happy to present our first webinar in a five-part series, where we work through the new B Corp Standards and Impact Topics

Session One is your orientation on how the assessment tool is built, which requirements are actually yours, and where the work you've already done still counts. We'll walk through how the assessment is structured, how the seven impact topics relate to each other, and how to read the new standards as a management system rather than a compliance checklist. We'll look at where requirements overlap (so one piece of work can serve many topics!), which requirements don't apply to your company at all, and show you the end-to-end process.

For those of you already Certified, we'll also look at how your existing policies and practices under the old standard map onto the new requirements. Much of what you've built still counts!

You'll leave with a realistic picture of the scope ahead of you, rather than an inflated one. Consider it a compass before the map.

By the end of this session, you'll be able to:

• Navigate the assessment tool and know where each requirement sits

• Understand the certification process and how to resource the work

• Identify which requirements apply to you based on your size and sector track

• Identify which requirements offer menus

• See where the impact topics overlap

• Connect your old standard work to the new requirements, so existing policies and practices carry forward

• Scope your actual workload realistically, with a clear sense of where to start

• This event is open to all B Corps and those interested in the B Corp movement - pre-registration is required.

Across five monthly sessions, we work through the standards topic by topic:

• what applies to your business

• what each area asks of you

• how the pieces connect

• where your existing work already counts

Sessions are open to everyone, whether you're currently Certified, recertifying, or considering certification; and wherever you're joining from across BC, Canada, or the U.S.
