Dahlia Lifting Morning
It’s that time of year again—time to lift our beautiful dahlias and prepare their tubers for a cosy winter rest. We’d love you to come and get your hands dirty with us during this practical, rewarding morning in the garden.
Together, we’ll be digging up the dahlia plants, cleaning and labelling the tubers, and learning the basics of how to store them over the colder months so they’re ready to burst back into life next season. This is a great opportunity to learn more about dahlia care, especially if you’re curious about growing your own in the future.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or have never held a trowel before, you’re warmly welcome to join. These sessions are all about giving gardening a go, connecting with others, and spending mindful time in nature. We’ll be working in our beautiful community garden for women, a space designed to be supportive, inclusive and full of good vibes.
What to bring:
Sturdy footwear (it can get muddy!)
Waterproof clothing – we’ll be outdoors, rain or shine
Gardening gloves (if you have them – we’ll have spares too)
What’s included:
All tools and materials
Friendly guidance and company
Endless tea and biscuits
Come along, meet new people, and enjoy the satisfying work of putting the garden to bed for winter. We can’t wait to see you there! We are running two sessions:
🌼Thursday 13th November 10am -12pm at Wortley Hall Walled Garden
🌼Saturday 22nd November 10am - 12pm at Baby Bloom
You can read more about our gardens and where to find them, here!
These sessions are all held outdoors, so please make sure to wrap up warm and wear suitable, sturdy shoes ☺️
🌈 Who Can Attend:
This event is for women and non-binary people, and we are a proudly trans-inclusive organisation. Everyone is welcome – whether you’re coming with a friend or on your own, we look forward to meeting you!
This event is delivered by Bloom Sheffield and is part of their Winter Wellbeing Programme. This programme is a seasonal offering designed to support mental health, connection, and community during the colder, darker months. Through a mix of creative workshops, gentle outdoor activities, reflective gatherings, and social events, we create warm and welcoming spaces where people can slow down, connect with others, and find moments of calm. Sessions are offered on a pay-as-you-can basis, making them as accessible as possible, and all contributions go directly back into supporting Bloom Sheffield’s work with women across the city.
