Natural Dyes Workshop with Charlie Hill
Come and join us for a creative morning, discover how to make natural dyes, paint with them onto fabric, and experiment with household mordants to change the colours. We may also have time to stitch into our fabric pieces and explore what can be gathered at this time of year to make natural dyes.
The session may include a short walk into Cat Lane Woods to collect some natural materials before heading back to Big Bloom, our community garden, to make and paint with the natural dyes. Warm drinks and refreshments are provided, but please make sure you wrap up warm as this is an outdoor event.

This session will be facilitated by Charlie Hill, an outdoor artist and facilitator. Charlie has worked in communities across South Yorkshire for over 14 years and her work explores ways to connect to nature and each other through creativity and bushcraft.
🌈 Who Can Attend:
This event is for women and non-binary people, and we are a proudly trans-inclusive organisation. Everyone is welcome – whether you’re coming with a friend or on your own, we look forward to meeting you!
This event is delivered by Bloom Sheffield and is part of their Winter Wellbeing Programme. This programme is a seasonal offering designed to support mental health, connection, and community during the colder, darker months. Through a mix of creative workshops, gentle outdoor activities, reflective gatherings, and social events, we create warm and welcoming spaces where people can slow down, connect with others, and find moments of calm. Sessions are offered on a pay-as-you-can basis, making them as accessible as possible, and all contributions go directly back into supporting Bloom Sheffield’s work with women across the city.
