NŪR: A Choral Sound Bath

Sat Sep 13, 2025 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Church of the Ascension, 11222

After three years of sold-out events, Bloom Sound Collective's signature experience is back: an immersive concert blending vocal music and traditional sound healing rituals featuring 20+ vocalists, instrumentalists, and healing artists honoring the divine light within us all.

✨ About NŪR:

NŪR (Arabic for “divine light”) draws inspiration from the diversity of our shared human experience. The program pays homage to a wide spectrum of spiritual traditions—from Sufi mysticism and Pagan rites to contemplative Christianity and Judaism—honoring the sacred thread that connects us all.

Participants will be guided through a sound journey featuring choral works by Frank Ticheli, Hussein Janmohammed, Joseph Rubinstein, and others. This carefully curated repertoire will be interwoven with Bloom's vast collection of sound healing instruments, including crystal and Himalayan bowls, gongs, shruti box, chimes, drums, and much more. 🌀

At the heart of it all is the human voice: the original sound healing instrument. The program will conclude with an invitation to raise your own voice, releasing your inner power and connecting with others through vocal toning.

Whether you’re a longtime lover of vocal music, a seeker of meditative spaces, or simply curious to experience something new and soul-nourishing, you are welcome here. 🦋 Come as you are.

✨ Ticket Types:

  • General Admission: Claim a spot to lay down on the floor of the church, first-come first serve when doors open. Bring your own yoga mat and amenities and soak in the full "sound bath" experience. Chairs available upon request.

  • VIP: We will reserve one of the best spots for you! Limited availability, yoga mats provided (and some other surprises, too).

  • Donation: Can't make it but want to support Bloom's mission? Please feel free to donate any amount of your choosing. **Note: Donations are not tickets and will not grant admission to the event.

✨ The Venue:

Bloom Sound Collective is a Brooklyn-based community of healing artists and musicians dedicated to creating transformative experiences with sound. Since its founding in 2022, the Collective has worked with major artists and institutions in New York City, including the World Trade Center, The Seaport, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Ecstatic Dance, Gaia Music Collective, Choral Chameleon, Young New Yorkers’ Chorus, Sound Mind Live, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. They continue to bring sound to new audiences through innovative collaborations and first-of-its-kind programming across New York and the greater Northeast.

Bloom’s founding members come from diverse backgrounds, having studied with renowned teachers such as Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux, Dr. John Beaulieu, Don Tito La Rosa, Lea Garnier, Lynda Arnold, Wah!, and many others. Their individual practices are informed by diverse levels of experience with Nada Yoga, ceremonial cacao, shamanic reiki, vedic meditation, gong therapy, classical music performance and composition, Orff Schulwerk and traditional Gamelan music, and more. We value: Artistry ✿ Equity ✿ Gratitude ✿ Service ✿ Community

We recognize, with great respect, that our practice here in New York City sits on Indigenous land – the unceded traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape peoples. We acknowledge the sound healing traditions of ancient Indigenous cultures, the Lenni-Lenape community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations and their continuing presence and relationship with their homeland.
