About the show:
Celebrating Indian music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s 80th birthday year, Prasanna presents a series of special concerts: “80 songs of Ilaiyaraaja” on guitar. With adventurous arrangements, Prasanna mirrors Ilaiyaraaja’s diverse musical styles, blending South Indian folk, Carnatic Classical, and Western influences from Baroque to modern genres like Funk, Jazz, and Pop. Ilaiyaraaja’s compositions, often written for guitar, include unforgettable hits like “Ilaya Nila Pozhigirathe” and “Enn Iniya PonNilave”. Prasanna captures the essence of these melodies, harmonies, and rhythms, transcending musical boundaries while maintaining their Indianness.

For Prasanna enthusiasts unfamiliar with Ilaiyaraaja, it’s an eye-opening experience to his prolific repertoire. Through 80 songs, Prasanna’s guitar arrangements promise a rich, diverse, and rewarding musical journey, showcasing the genius of one of the world’s most prolific composers.
