Join Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture, Watauga County Agricultural Extension, and Against the Grain Farm for a workshop on organic integrated pest management (IPM)!
According to the USDA, IPM is a "science-based decision-making process that combines tools and strategies to identify and manage pests." Preventing pests throughout the seasons is key to a successful harvest. At this workshop, Richard Boylan of Watauga County Agricultural Extension will cover common pests, organic treatments, and best practices for holistic pest prevention. Anthea van Geloven, manager of Against the Grain Farm (ATG), will present on their methods for preventing and eliminating pest pressure. ATG is a certified organic and biodynamic farm located in Zionville, NC. This workshop is suitable for growers pursuing organic certification, growers who are interested in incorporating organic practices, or anyone looking to learn more about pest control methods in general.
What to bring: any snacks or drinks you'd like to have during the event (feel free to bring dinner!), notetaking supplies, and your questions!
