Join Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and Richard Boylan, Watauga County's Small Farms Extension Agent, for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn how tp operate and maintain a BCS Tractor, a versatile and powerful tool for smaller scale farming and gardening.
What to Expect: This workshop will be split into two sections; the first half we will be in an outdoor classroom learning about the basics of operating a BCS, and how to upkeep and maintain one. We will then transition into in the hands-on guided demonstrations with the BCS's and attachments that we will use on a plot on the farm.
What to Bring: We will be outside for the duration of this workshop. Please bring weather appropriate clothes and shoes that you are comfortable walking/standing in. Be aware that it might be chilly as it gets later in the evening, bring layers! Please bring a water bottle and any snacks you may want.
This workshop is ideal for farmers, gardeners, homesteaders, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture and efficient land management practices. Whether you're looking to streamline your farming operations or enhance your gardening experience, mastering the BCS Tractor will help you to tackle a wide range of tasks with ease and precision.

Written Directions: Take US 421S from Boone (toward Wilkesboro) for 10 m; turn N on US 221 towards W. Jefferson. Go approximately 6 miles. Turn right on Watertank Road . Continue for about 0.3 m. Turn right at the first gravel driveway (there are 4 mailboxes here) where the mailbox reads 608. Go straight up the driveway for 0.25 mile to the farm gate (road narrows to one lane into the farm).
