Springhouse Farm, 28692
Description
Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and MountainTrue invite you to Springhouse Farm for a workshop on restoring riverbanks and riparian zones impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Flood damage often leads to unstable, eroded banks and altered water channels, posing long-term environmental challenges to your home or farm. This workshop will equip farmers and landowners with practical, sustainable techniques to repair damage and strengthen these crucial areas.
You’ll learn hands-on methods for stream bank repair, including strategic use of native plant species to combat erosion, live-staking practices, and effective riparian zone remediation techniques. Our instructors from Mountain True will guide you through creating resilient riverbanks that support healthy ecosystems, reducing the risk of future flood damage. Take this opportunity to gain practical skills and connect with a community dedicated to environmental stewardship and farm resiliency.
Topics we will cover:
- Methods of stream bank repair
- Native species to prevent erosion and preserve banks
- Live-staking
- Riparian zone remediation
- And more!
