Double Feature: Austin's Blue Starlite Drive-in finally opens Second Location, it’s FIRST in Round Rock Tx., this Spring.

AUSTIN, Texas—As the original Blue Starlite Drive-In rolls into it’s 10th anniversary year as Austin’s "mini urban drive-in movie theater experience" in East Austin across from the Mueller District, the creator of the concept unveils plans to finally heed a long requested second Texas location: Williamson County. This second location will get it's premiere in February 2020.

"For years our northern patrons have asked for a location in the Round Rock area," says founder Josh Frank. "Due to this interest, we have been looking for years for the perfect spot. We have finally found it. We are going to finally light a screen up for our far North Travis and Williamson Country friends."

Blue Starlite Drive-in has signed a deal to open a satellite location just down the street from the Salt Lick and Dell Diamond on Round Rock Parks and Rec. land in an overflow parking area of Rock N’ River Water Park.

Like their main Austin location—which Conde Nast has called “One of the coolest outdoor movie theaters in the world”— this new location will be open year round and offer a whole new Blue Starlite Experience.

The Blue will be collaborating with other Round Rock businesses including Ultimate Outdoor Entertainment to bring some very special new innovative outdoor movie entertainment options to the experience. As well as THE SALT LICK BBQ, whose Round Rock location is just down the street. Patrons will be able to order Drive-in BBQ meals with their advanced tickets and have Salt Lick ready for them to enjoy when the movie begins.

"It is a beautiful large piece of land surrounded by trees and big open skies that looks down to a valley below. It can accommodate up to 50 cars per show and is just 25 minutes north of our the central Austin Location. Our new Round Rock location will allow for larger event nights and be a step closer to the bigger old vintage drive-in vibes of old but with our signature 'urban drive-in' twist. I think folks in the area are going to love it,” says founder Josh Frank.

The drive-in theatre is known for its boutique approach to service, retro charm, and eclectic approach to programming which features everything from classic films and kitschy cinema from the seventies and eighties to beloved modern movies year round in Austin, Tx. Blue Starlite opened originally in August of 2009, adding seasonal pop-ups in Miami and Minturn, Colorado along the way. 2020 is the Blue’s 10th anniversary season.

Blue Starlite is announcing their first weeks of programming, that are live on their website with advanced tickets available for opening nights. The launch month movies will include Back to the Future, The Goonies, and Grease The Sing Along. Tickets will range from $8 to walk in and start at $25 to Drive-in!
