Crit Dreams tells the story of The American Cycling team as it tackles the 2023 American Criterium Cup season. The film follows the motivations, challenges, triumphs and tragedies of Summerhill, Craven and the team in what ultimately turns into a love story about racing, team, competition and redemption.
About the filmmaker:
A former professional road cyclist and filmmaker, Angus began competing internationally at the age of 14 and turned professional at 18 years of age. Recognizing a gap in how the sport was being represented to the world, he left the pro ranks at 21 to pursue a degree and career in film. Working with some of the most respected independent production companies in his home country of Australia- across non-fiction and scripted comedy - Angus was directing his first national TV show but the age of 24.
Angus returned to the professional road cycling ranks at 25 in an effort to get further first-person experience of the human story behind the great sporting performances we see on TV. This experience led to the creation of Thereabouts.
Angus believes the purpose of sport should be to make the world a better place and through Thereabouts has made these beliefs his mission, in an effort to inspire the current and next generation to think about sport and what it can do differently.
