How can the relational principles of our work in craniosacral therapy be revisited from the perspective of movement? The capacity to listen and be receptive is at the heart of both craniosacral therapy and moving. This deeply experiential workshop will address how we meet our own body in moving and in treatment.

We will approach the body as a fluid system in which the bones can be suspended in the tissues. By orienting to our midline we will enhance our connection to the ground and the sky, allowing for two directional energy through the body.

Listening, slowing down, paying attention to each moment supports coherence and integrity so clarity, simplicity, and efficient movement emerge. It is harder to do less and be clear, but specificity and sustained practice allows for new pathways in the fascia, fluid continuity and improved control from the nervous system.

Topics covered will include:

• Grounding: We will explore meditative awareness and active engagement (‘active micro-movements’) of the body
• Rhythm: Rhythm is fundamental to the cranial paradigm. We will use pulsing to play with generating fluidity and fascial continuity in a partner’s body
• Standing with Ease: Can we transpose the ease we find in lying to standing and walking?
• Partner work involving non-cranial touch to develop awareness of movement patterns followed by biodynamic cranial sessions in pairs, each day in both the morning and afternoon.
• Following the lines of the fascia through brushing exercises.
• Sustained practice and detailed attention to simple movements.
