TRE Advanced London: Using Touch in TRE (2 days)
Touch is a fundamental human experience. Safe, skilful, gentle touch can be incredibly useful in TRE. This advanced event will look at simple, effective ways of using touch to enhance safety and embodiment in TRE.
Touch can really promote our sense of self, when done well is transformative. Touch frequently allows you to sidestep the intellect and create a powerful sense of relationship and support.
We will explore how to negotiate touch such that your client feels safe. We will look at using light, gentle contact to help someone ground into their body.
Self touch interventions, touching over the client’s hand, getting the client to reach towards you to grab or squeeze your hand are great starting places for changing activity in the body. We will practice still hands touch to support connection.
Touch over or under areas that are blocked, brushing down limbs, and supporting a sense of weight in the feet and creative resistance are progressive interventions in the field of using touch. We will look at the lessons from biodynamic craniosacral therapy on the art of non-doing 'relational touch’.
