🟠🟠 (in daylight) / 🔴🔴 (in darkness) A STEEP and STRENUOUS moorland walk with BOGGY AREAS, UNEVEN TERRAIN and TOUGH SLOPES on both the ascent and descent. Suitable for EXPERIENCED WALKERS ONLY with a moderate to high level of fitness.

🥤☕🧁🥮 Leonie and staff at The Pike Snack Shack usually open especially for us, which means walkers can pick up a hot drink, a pastie or cake.

🚌 𝐁𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐃! There is plenty of public transport to this location, including the 125 bus from Bolton, Chorley or Preston. The 575 and 576 services between Bolton and Wigan stop about a ten minute walk from the venue.

🚗 Limited parking is available adjacent to the pub on Bridge Street. Car pooling is encouraged. Wherever you do park, please take care not to block access for local residents and businesses, ALWAYS check signage before leaving your vehicle.

PLEASE USE THE "MANAGE TICKETS" FEATURE TO CANCEL YOUR SPACE/S IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND TO ALLOW SOMEBODY ELSE THE CHANCE TO JOIN THE WALK. Please do not contact BWOAS via Facebook, Twitter or private messages to volunteers to cancel. Individuals who book and then don't turn up having not cancelled their attendance will be barred from all future BWOAS walks.

BWOAS PRIVACY POLICY

Bolton Walking and Outdoors Appreciation Society is a community collective of volunteers, friends and members of the public. Walks are organised by individuals who volunteer their free time to take part in the outings.

1. Adult participants must acknowledge that they are responsible for their own actions, safety, wellbeing and personal property, and are equally responsible for and have a duty of care over any accompanying children and young people under the age of eighteen at ALL TIMES during an activity.

2. Participants must fully understand that any activity advertised by Bolton Walking and Outdoors Appreciation Society is NOT A PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED WALK. Volunteers who assist in organisation, managing the group and navigating on the day do so on a peer to peer basis and ARE NOT personally responsible or otherwise liable for any accidents, loss of or damage to personal property or any emergency medical care that may be required.

3. Important personal medication must be carried during each activity and, where appropriate, a volunteer can be discreetly told of the whereabouts of any such items in the event of an emergency. This includes asthma inhalers and autoinjector pens. Participants must read all advertised information available and be sure that they are fit and well enough to attend an activity. THIS IS WHOLLY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARTICIPANT OR RESPONSIBLE PARENT OR GUARDIAN OR A CHILD IN THEIR CARE UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN.

4. Volunteers and other experienced group members may offer advice during the activity but it should be understood that this IS NOT PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE from a trained professional. It is the responsibility of each individual participant to make their own judgement and proceed as they see fit should a a safety issue arise.

5. Anybody taking part in a BWOAS walk should be aware that participants and volunteers in the group will capture images and video clips that WILL then be shared online via social media. Participants are welcomed to send such images to BWOAS to share on the walking group social media and other online platforms.

Participants booking for themselves or a child or young person under the age of eighteen in their care acknowledge that they have understood and agree with the above statements by booking onto any advertised activity.
