Description
Bonjour Claude are holding their second SCRATCH NIGHT! Come and see the works-in-progress of up to five Northern-based experimental performers from across the arts (including music, dance, word, theatre, arts etc.) then join a question and answer after each act.
This is a space for artists to experiment with or try out new ideas in a welcoming space... come and be part of it!
We are proud to present guest lecturer / esteemed academic FRAU MAGA to give her world-class lecture on desire - strap in!
We welcome guest artists THE JOE MEEK COMMERORATIVE MARCHING BAND as our warm-up act: Adam Hart and Tim Wise (saxophone and electronics) - unintentional sounds or glitches are reworked to bring unnoticed elements into the moment of performance.
XHI NDUBISI (writer and painter) will perform their in progress ‘Love letter to a monolyth’: Icarus’ sister recounts her fathers, and sons, kings and princes, men and monsters around her and tells that brother did not fail because of his hubris, he failed because of fear, a fear so old and terrible it could only be quietened by blood. ROSIE MIDDLETON (vocalist) introduces Palimpsest, an iterative year-long work for voice and recording about memory that invites the us participate its distortion on the night. This intimate handling of gesture seeks the imprints of the audience around it. JAMES CREED (composer and guitarist) performs part clown piece, part lecture piece — letting all the tendencies of his long-gathering collection of notations and pieces collapse in upon themselves into an amorphsc muse, music object. LUMEN (comedian and theatre maker) will delve into your experiences of love, listening to your romantic tales and weaving together serenades that Shakespeare wished he could’ve written.
We invite all curious and inquisitive attendees to ask questions to the artists about their works and interdisciplinary practice as we go through the night. This night is about crossover, community and curiosity. BYOB!
