Drawn to the Boro, a conversation with artist Helen Bainbridge

Join artist Helen Bainbridge for a series of conversations with Middlesbrough community members Imran, Zainab and Jude.

Over the last year Helen has been developing a new series of portraits that celebrates stories of migration to Middlesbrough. Drawn to the Boro explores portraiture and pattern as a form of storytelling and a way of understanding how people carry places with them across time, distance and change. This conversation event will be a chance to hear from Jude, Imran and Zainab, as well as Helen's process of capturing these stories as part of her portraiture practice. The ongoing project creates space for conversations about staying, leaving and returning, about inherited memories and imagined futures and about the emotional relationship between people and place.
