Hybrid Concert Series

Hybrid Concert Series & Practice Lab - October 2026 - Berlin

The concert series brings together 15 female musicians from 11 countries whose artistic practices are rooted in string instruments and related acoustic instruments, including violin, viola, cello, oud, harp, qanun, bandura, double bass, hurdy-gurdy, and kamancheh. The participating artists work across contemporary, electroacoustic, and experimental music, presenting diverse artistic approaches shaped by different cultural backgrounds and musical traditions.

Across three curated concert evenings, the program presents original solo and duo performances that expand the possibilities of these instruments beyond their conventional roles. Through electronics, live looping, improvisation, extended techniques, and computer-based music, the artists open up new sonic spaces and create dialogues between instruments, cultures, and artistic perspectives.

Complementing the concerts, the Practice Lab offers five workshops led by participating artists. These workshops provide practical insights into microtonality for string players, Ableton Live and electronic music production, fair pay and budgeting for artists, artistic identity and career development, and contemporary approaches to Iranian music for string instruments. Together, these formats create space for learning, exchange, and professional development, while also fostering encounters between artists and audiences.

Die Konzertreihe bringt 15 Musikerinnen aus 11 Ländern zusammen, deren künstlerische Praxis auf Saiteninstrumenten und verwandten akustischen Instrumenten basiert, darunter Violine, Viola, Cello, Oud, Harfe, Qanun, Bandura, Kontrabass, Drehleier und Kamancheh. Die beteiligten Künstlerinnen bewegen sich zwischen zeitgenössischer, elektroakustischer und experimenteller Musik und präsentieren vielfältige künstlerische Ansätze, die von unterschiedlichen kulturellen Hintergründen und musikalischen Traditionen geprägt sind.

An drei kuratierten Konzertabenden präsentiert das Programm originale Solo- und Duo-Performances, die die Möglichkeiten dieser Instrumente über ihre konventionellen Rollen hinaus erweitern. Durch Elektronik, Live-Looping, Improvisation, erweiterte Spieltechniken und computergestützte Musik erschließen die Künstlerinnen neue Klangräume und schaffen Dialoge zwischen Instrumenten, Kulturen und künstlerischen Perspektiven.

Ergänzend zu den Konzerten bietet das Practice Lab fünf Workshops, die von beteiligten Künstlerinnen geleitet werden. Die Workshops vermitteln praktische Einblicke in Mikrotonalität für Streicher:innen, Ableton Live und elektronische Musikproduktion, faire Bezahlung und Budgetierung für Künstler:innen, künstlerische Identität und Karriereentwicklung sowie zeitgenössische Ansätze iranischer Musik für Saiteninstrumente. Gemeinsam schaffen diese Formate Raum für Lernen, Austausch und professionelle Weiterentwicklung und fördern zugleich die Begegnung zwischen Künstlerinnen und Publikum.
