The Boston HERC is a Latino/a-led organization with a 25-year track record of

equipping first-generation youth of color to obtain a higher education, break the cycle of

poverty, and become agents of change in their communities. The Boston HERC’s

programming focuses on first-generation students of color (and their families) who have

been underrepresented in higher education enrollment and completion. Boston is an

academic and economic hub: a destination for students from around the world. Yet

Boston youth, who could be first in their families to graduate college, are too often not

accessing these same opportunities. The Boston HERC’s work is on a mission to close

this Opportunity Gap, not only for the current generation but also for the generations

that follow.
