Jen Farrar - BSBI Botanical Skills Officer, Northern Ireland, will be holding a training event on using Poland & Clements "The Vegetative Key to the British Flora" to gain confidence in identifying plants when out of flower and extend the recording season, at Murlough National Nature Reserve from 10.30am to 15.30pm on Sunday 2nd February 2025.
Previous botanical experience is highly recommended for this workshop. There will be a small number of the vegetative key books available for use on the day.
*At checkout there is an option to pay for the book which will you will receive at the workshop.*
The book is currently on sale at Summerfield Books for £23.50.
There is a moderate fee associated with this workshop to cover the cost of the event. BSBI members and students receive a 50% discount (please bring along your student card on the day). This training event is unlikely to be suitable for children but please do contact Jen Farrar if you would like to discuss this.
This workshop will be a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. We will be spending most of the afternoon outdoors using the key. In the event of poor weather, material will be pre-collected for use in the workroom.
The workroom has toilets and a small kitchen with microwave. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for enjoyment throughout the day. Please bring along your own packed lunch.
The meeting place is the National Trust Car park near Murlough House. (Please use the previous underlined link to Google maps to see the correct location to meet.) This car park is free for NT members, you will need your NT membership card to get a free ticket. For non-members the parking fee is £5.
