Mints (Mentha) of Britain and Ireland
Ambroise Baker, Teesside University

Mints are a challenging but rewarding group which are often neglected by recorders. In this webinar Ambroise will help attendees improve their Mentha recording by providing an overview of the Mentha diversity encountered by field botanists in Britain and Ireland, discussing the recording challenges and reviewing some of the more ambiguous key characters.

Ambroise is a keen field botanist and a plant ecologist by training. His first love was horticultural botany with a passion for succulent plants throughout teenage years. This led him to discover field botany during a stay in South Africa in his early 20s and has never looked back. Since then, he has been developing and applying his plant identification skills during his studies, research, and professional life. Ambroise has a particular soft spot for urban floras, open mosaic habitats, and taxonomic groups such as grasses, Brassicaceae, bryophytes, and aquatic plant. When he can’t indulge in field botany, he enjoys family life, allotmenteering and his job as a university lecturer.

Timing

The webinar will begin at 7:30pm. You will only be able to view the video and audio of the speaker and panellists but a Q&A feature will be live throughout for questions, which we will try to get through in the course of the evening.
