Beginner Botany Walk - Bromsgrove

This is event is part of a suite of events, offered by BSBI members as part of the 100 Plants in 2026 Challenge. Participants will have the opportunity to meet other botanists, and learn some common plants, while taking an informal beginner-focused walk.

These are events are open to any beginner botanists; you do not need to be taking part in the 100 Plants Challenge to attend.

Description: A walk designed to teach beginners common hedgerow, woodland and grassland plants. The plan is to walk the grounds around a local horse stabling facility, which includes the 3 types of habitat mentioned above. Free parking and toilet facilities are available. It would be useful if participants could bring a pen/pencil with them. Sturdy shoes and waterproof jackets are also a good idea.

Contingency plan (in case of bad weather): In case of extremely poor weather (high winds, heavy rain, storms), this event will be rearranged. Participants will contacted via email if this is the case.

Expected terrain: The walk includes a woodland walk on bark chippings, so may not be suitable for some people. We will not be approaching horses or even be in the same paddocks, however anyone allergic may want to take anti-histamines in advance.

Expected required fitness level: There are no benches on the route. The walk will be one kilometre on fairly flat terrain.
