Botanical Skills NI: NPMS Habitat Training

Join Botanical Skills Northern Ireland Project for an exciting, hands-on training day at the beautiful Derrymore Demesne (National Trust), Co. Armagh. This session is designed to give you the skills and confidence to identify key habitats using plant indicator species, while introducing you to the National Plant Monitoring Scheme (NPMS).

This practical outdoor workshop will introduce you to the background of the NPMS and show you exactly how to get involved. Working to set up small training plots and using official NPMS resources, we will focus on identifying three vital habitats using plant indicator species:

• Lowland grassland
• Broad-leaved woodland
• Hedgerows

This event is beginner-friendly! You don't need to be an expert, though a basic familiarity with common plants will be beneficial. Derrymore Demesne is a relatively flat and accessible site with only a few minor hills.
