Targeted Aquatic Plant Project: River Blackwater, Cappoquin, Waterford

This event is part of the Targeted Aquatic Plants Project funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service to enhance recording, monitoring and conservation of rare and priority aquatic plant species in Ireland.

Description: We will be exploring along the river Blackwater at Cappoquin, looking at the common aquatic species there as well the rare Groenlandia densa (Opposite-leaved Pondweed).  There is a chance of spotting non-native Crassula helmsii (New Zealand Pigmyweed) and we will be looking at some of the different species of Willow. This will be a great introduction to aquatic plants for those who are getting started in aquatics. 

Bring: Packed lunch, comfortable walking shoes or boots. Hand lens and id guides if you have them (but they are not necessary).

Contingency plan (in case of bad weather): In the event of bad weather, we will postpone and rearrange to another date. Please keep a close eye on your email or provide a phone number to the host to avoid disappointment.

Expected terrain: Flat terrain, riverside walk.
