Winter Talk: Scottish Plant Names, with Greg Kenicer

How do plants come to their names and what do they mean? Explore the curious sources and sometimes downright weird evolutions of vernacular names, with a focus on the Scottish flora – across English, Gaelic and, Scots (with a little French in there too).

Greg Kenicer is a lecturer and botanist based at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the author of Scottish Plant Names.
