Botanical Skills NI: Intermediate Fern Identification

Want to sharpen your Fern Identification skills? Join the Botanical Skills Northern Ireland Project for this intermediate-level workshop in Peatlands Park.

Building on the fern refresher course in February, this training day is aimed at aspiring botanists, ecologists, and anyone else who wishes to begin tackling the more difficult fern species such as buckler ferns, filmy-ferns and shield-ferns.

Morning session:

Indoors at Peatlands Park, Co. Armagh looking at samples of various fern species which can prove to be difficult for improving botanists.

Afternoon session:

Outdoors at Peatlands Park, specifically at Derryadd Lough, identifying and recording fern species which we come across in the field.

Previous attendees of our fern refresher course are encouraged to attend as we will be exploring a new area of the park, and all attendees will be guided in transitioning your fern ID skills from improver to intermediate.
