This should have been the second of two one-day meetings to explore the Birks o’ Aberfeldy but we had to cancel the first meeting due to coronavirus restrictions.  Assuming it goes ahead, the emphasis of this field meeting will be on learning and we particularly welcome anyone who has not been on a BSBI field meeting before. An earlier visit in May looks for spring flowering species, but that visit is likely to miss species that flower later in the season. So, now we would hope to see species such as Melampyrum sylvaticum (Small Cow-wheat) and the woodland grasses Drymochloa sylvestris (Wood Fescue), Bromopsis ramosa (Hairy-brome) and possibly Bromopsis benekenii (Lesser Hairy-brome). A reasonable level of fitness, waterproofs, strong shoes and a packed lunch will be required.
