Description

This online beginners' workshop aims to help you learn to identify wild flowers through recognising their families using Faith Anstey's excellent Pocket Guide to Wildflower Families, which will be supplied to participants, and on which much of the course is based. We will then introduce you to simple keys and Field Guides with keys. We will finish off with some homework and advice on how to develop your interest in wildflower identification.

Aileen Meek and Jim McIntosh, both of the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland will offer expert guidance and tuition.

We will start at 10.00 am prompt and the workshop will be in three half hour sessions separated by two 10 minute breaks. So, overall, should be just under 2 hours.

  • Break
  • How to use The Pocket Guide to Wildflower Families booklet

The Pocket Guide to Wildflower Families booklet

As mentioned above, The Pocket Guide to Wildflower Families booklet by Faith Anstey, will accompany the workshop and is free to participants (RRP £6.99).  We will ask you for your postal address when you book, and will send a copy of the booklet soon afterwards, to allow you plenty time to familiarise yourself with it.

Zoom Link

Bookings will close on Wednesday 19th May at 1800 for people in Great Britain and Monday 17th at 1200 for those in Ireland (to allow enough time for the booklet to arrive). We will send the Zoom webinar link out to participants with instructions on.

Ticket Prices

There is a £5 discount for young people (under 25) and students in full-time education.  Sorry, to keep admin simple we are not offering any discounts if you already have a copy of The Pocket Guide to Wildflower Families - but in that case why don't you give your spare copy to an interested friend?

BSBI Members

BSBI Members should note that this is a workshop for general beginners - and they may find it little too basic. For more of a challenge you may be interested in our Grass ID - fresh specimen workshop on the 12th June (for grass ID beginners).
