Archery GB Instructor Course

The Archery GB Instructor Award is the entry-level training course for people working in leisure, recreational and educational environments. The course is focused on training learners to deliver fun and safe introductory archery sessions.

What's involved?

The cost of the course includes the workbook, assessment and refreshments.

The course will be mainly practical and outside but will also include some indoor theory sessions and will include a practical assessment. All aspects of the course will take place within the site and you need to attend both full days from 9am – 6pm.

You will be trained and assessed by accredited Archery GB coaches who will show you:

  • How to shoot arrows
  • How to prepare and deliver archery sessions
  • How to select appropriate equipment
  • How to set up a range
  • How to ensure safety on the range

You will be able to lead fun and safe archery sessions for beginners. Learners must be at least 17 years old by the first day of the course. The successful learner will gain an Archery GB Instructor qualification which lasts for three years.

Please note, the Archery GB qualification does not allow you to led archery within scouting until you have obtained an Adventurous Activity Permit for Archery. This is granted locally by contacting your County Assessor who will make a recommendation to your District Commissioner to grant. Permits can be restricted depending on individual performance so that archery can still be delivered, but only under specific circumstances.
