Cultivating Presence: A Journey of Healing & Return

Returning to the Heart: A lecture and guided workshop with Dr. Abdallah Rothman
Healing was never meant to be a journey we walk alone.
One of the great gifts of the Islamic tradition is suhba, the company of those whose presence helps us remember Allah and gently return to ourselves. In this session, Dr. Abdallah Rothman will explore what it means to cultivate a more present heart, bringing together sacred knowledge, contemplative practice and sincere companionship. Through reflection and discussion, we will explore what it means to become more present in our relationship with Allah, ourselves and others, while developing a deeper awareness of the heart and the nafs.
The session will explore:
• Understanding the heart and the nafs, and developing greater awareness of our inner state.
• Cultivating presence in our relationship with Allah, ourselves and others.
• Integrating remembrance (dhikr) into everyday life.
• Exploring practices that can support spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
• Moving from simply understanding sacred knowledge to embodying it in our daily lives.
Whether you are new to these ideas or already engaged in a personal spiritual practice, this session offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect and explore a more intentional way of living.
