You might know South East London trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi from one of his many collaborative projects, perhaps most notably as one of the key players in Brainchild favourite Ezra Collective. A vital contributor in the scene, both in live performance and studio work, whether that's playing Glastonbury’ with Ezra Collective, or performing at sold out arenas with Grammy Award winning Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy, recording on Moses Boyd’s Mercury Music Prize shortlisted album 'Dark Matter', or recording with Yazmin Lacey as part of Blue Note Records 'Reimagined'. Not one to be pigeonholed, Ife's musical output spans Jazz, Afrobeat, Grime and Hip-hop. We feel very lucky to have him sharing his his latest solo project for DIGS!
feeo's set at last year's festival was a tonic for the ears. Reared on a combination of Jazz, Folk, Reggae, and the 2002 Ibiza soundtrack, producer and songwriter feeo developed a taste for storytelling, big beats and stacked vocal harmonies early on. Her first cuts channelling this blend of styles were quick to turn heads, leading to a feature on Loraine James’ acclaimed album ‘For You and I’ in 2019, providing the vocals for ’Sensual’. Lyricism is the driving force behind feeo’s work, which she sets against an experimental Neo-soul-inflected backdrop. Her first two tracks, Yeti and Morning Glory, are treasures to behold. We've loved seeing how things have unfolded for her over the last year and feel very lucky to have her performing with us again.
Rarelyalways is a Hackney raised jazz musician, producer, vocalist making contemporary experimental hip hop. The artist used lockdown as a source of inspiration for his latest project, drawing on the grief it caused for many of us, to created lead single “Lamenting”. The vibrating bass offers a foundation for a rhythmically chaotic monologue from the rapper, which is rooted in his experiences as a keyworker. Jazz and grime collide to offer us a thought-provoking narrative and an electrically charged-track. You might hear trip hop, jazz, undercurrents of rock, J Dilla style beat science, and more...
SONLIFE is a British Turkish producer from South East London who caught our eye after collaborating with Jerkcurb and WOOM's Isobel Risk. After finding his feet playing and producing in Trip Hop outfit Haraket, he took the opportunity to take some time out to develop his solo studio skills when the band split. His our compositions are carefully crafted contemporary trip-hop landscapes that blur the line beautifully between electronic and organic instrumentation. SONLIFE has three beautiful singles out in the world from his forthcoming album that's due to land later this year. Lead single 'The First' conjures up sounds influenced by latter-day Bonobo and Massive Attack. We've very excited to hear what he has in store.
