Braintree Bowmen Archery Beginners Course 29th July, 5th and 12th August 2026

Are you interested in starting archery? A beginners course is designed to introduce you to the sport and teach you how to shoot safely and comfortably on the range before you go on to join an archery club.

Braintree Bowmen offers a 6-hour beginners course which takes place over 3 sessions. One booking covers all 3 sessions and you must attend all sessions to complete the course.

Day one: Wednesday 29th July 6.30-8.30pm

Day two: Wednesday 5th August 6.30-8.30pm

Day three: Wednesday 12th August 6.30-8.30pm

All the equipment you need for the course will be provided and there is parking available at the venue, along with toilet facilities.

The course will take place at Blake End Craft Centre, Blake End, Rayne, Braintree CM77 6SH. The range is behind the main craft centre, and can be reached by turning into the main car park and carrying on along the road, past the shops and the playground. The range is in the field on the left and the entrance gate is near the trees at the far end of the field. Parking is available along both sides of the road beside the range.

The sessions will take place outside and there is little shelter on the range, so weather-appropriate clothing is advised. We recommend wearing closer-fitting clothes without tassels or toggles and flat shoes as these will be easier to shoot in. Shoes with closed toes must be worn whatever the weather. Any piercings above the waist (excluding ear studs) should be removed or secured with medical tape (even if they are under clothing).

Refreshments will be available during the session, or please feel free to bring your own refreshments if you prefer and let us know if you have any allergies that we should be aware of.

We also ask anyone completing the course to fill out a copy of our beginner's registration form and return it to us either before or during the first session. An electronic copy can be downloaded using the link below, and there will also be paper versions available on the day if you prefer.
