In Hebrew scripture, Nehemiah organized a "Great Assembly" to win justice for the people of Jerusalem. When brought before the Great Assembly, city officials committed to right the wrongs perpetrated against their citizens by unscrupulous lenders and nobles and to implement solutions to the problems they faced. Today, the people of Columbus also need real solutions to community problems: families cannot find affordable housing; too many people have been affected by gun violence; and law enforcement lacks legitimacy in the eyes of the community.

That is why we will join in a Great Assembly – the Nehemiah Action – to win justice for the people of Columbus on Tuesday, May 11 at 7pm. We will ask city officials to commit to implementing solutions for affordable housing, gun violence, and police reform. We need numbers to show our officials that it is unacceptable that around 50,000 families spend over 50% of their income on housing, and that there are two shootings on average every day in Columbus. We are bringing proven solutions to our city officials; all we need is YOU in order to win justice for our community.

To keep everyone safe this year, we will be hosting a hybrid ActionThis means you can attend virtually by streaming the Nehemiah Action on a wifi-enabled device (link is included in your registration confirmation email), OR in your car by driving in to the Nehemiah Action at First Church of God (The City). Parking spots are limited, so be sure to talk to your team member and get your ticket early if you want to attend in person!
