Breaking Bread - Dinner is better shared

in partnership with Culinary Artistas

What is it?

We are a community of people who want to share meals with friends and neighbors because we believe making food and eating together makes life better. Our members enjoy weekly dinners, with farm-to-table ingredients & chef-designed dishes, while also getting to form bonds with other community members both across the table & in the kitchen.

All the best parts of dining with loved ones...without any of the drama.

"The energy in the room was incredible – Breaking Bread truly creates a sense of belonging." - A.J.

"I felt so nourished, not only by the delicious food but by the company and genuine conversations." -S.W.

"It’s rare to find a place where people are so open-hearted and willing to connect." -K.R.

We inaugurated Breaking Bread with Monday Night dinners in November

• Additional nights of the week will be added on a rolling basis.
• Looking forward: more streamlined sign-ups, more selection to fit busy schedules, more community, & more fun!
Opportunities to cook are limited! Get a free add-on ticket to secure your spot cooking for community.

How does it work?

• Membership gives you access to our community
• 5 or 10 pack dinner punch cards give you flexibility in scheduling
• Book particular dinners online at least a day in advance
• Our Ghirardelli square location offers a family-style dining room & a gourmet kitchen.
• Once a season, members have the opportunity to prepare that night's meal, learning the tricks of the trade from a professional chef.

Eating together has always been central to human connection—romance, family, and community are built around shared meals. But simple as it is, our modern world affords few opportunities for shared meals. Those who have lived in dorms, co-ops, or communal homes know the joy of dinners shared with loved ones. In this context, shared meal time becomes a place for brilliant conversation and deep connection.

Imagine a place where, once or twice a week—or even nightly if you choose—you can walk a few minutes from home to share a meal with your community. Food is prepared by community members under the guidance of a professional chef, kids meet others in the neighborhood, and adults and children alike find their place among friends new and old. Perhaps the meal begins with a short talk from a neighbor or guest, inspiring conversation beyond the bounds of small talk.

It’s more than just dinner; it’s an ongoing participatory experience. As a member, you’ll routinely, albeit infrequently, have a turn helping with meal prep, allowing you to learn new kitchen skills, make new friends, and contribute to the joy of feeding others. This weaves a rich social web of interdependence, reminding us that the act of breaking bread nourishes not just our bodies but our spirits.
