Between the History and Future of Psychedelics

Breaking Convention is back! Join us for a one-day event and after-party on 20th April 2024, ahead of our three-day conference in 2025. It might be shorter than the full conference, but we've packed it with insightful talks and panels, all centred around the theme of what is happening in the present, the "Here & Now", of psychedelic culture, consciousness and research.

Here and Now: Between the History and Future of Psychedelics will begin by looking back into the roots of psychedelia, including the importance of indigenous cosmologies, the impact of thinkers such as Terence McKenna, the importance of rave culture and lessons from the underground. Moving on from the past we'll then dive into the present day, the main focus of the conference. We'll delve into the latest clinical research, the rapidly expanding field of psychedelic education, and what the mainstreaming of psychedelics might mean for society at this time in history. After placing the present and acknowledging our roots, we will examine what this means for the future of psychedelia not only within the academy, but culturally, sociologically and philosophically too. 

As always, at Breaking Convention we're committed to providing a multidisciplinary approach to psychedelic education. In Here and Now, we're bringing together academics, researchers, clinicians and artists to provide an exciting and nuanced view of the fast-expanding psychedelic ecosystem.

TICKETS

LIVESTREAM:

We will be livestreaming the event online. If you purchase a livestream ticket this does NOT allow access to the in-person event at Conway Hall nor the after party. A link to the livestream will be provided in the run up to the event. If you are unable to watch live, the recordings will be available afterwards, exclusively for ticket holders.

All in-person tickets include; entry to Conway Hall (with access to the talks, art exhibition and stalls area) and entrance to the after-party taking place at Aures in Leake Street until 4am. 

For the in-person tickets we have a tiered price system; Concession, General and Benefactor admission. By purchasing a benefactor ticket you are supporting those who cannot afford a standard price ticket, and we would like to express our huge gratitude to those of you in a position to do this.

Concession groups are here defined as those on low income, unemployed, students and OAPs. You may be asked to provide documentary proof at the reception desk. However, if you feel that you can afford a higher price ticket please feel free to purchase, as every little helps us.

LOCATION/TRAVEL

Conway Hall is located in Central London and so is very accessible via regular public transport. The entrance to the venue is located in Red Lion Square where there are places to lock bikes to, however there is no secure/indoor bicycle storage available.

Red Lion Square is not on the main road, therefore making it safe and easy for taxi dropoffs. 

Parking is extremely limited and it is pay & display. The venue falls within the congestion charge zone, so drivers will be required to pay a congestion charge fee and also a ULEZ fee, more information here: Transport For London Info - Driving in London

AFTER PARTY

All in-person tickets include entrance to the after party which will take place in the amazing graffiti tunnel at Aures in Leake Street. The party is a short distance from Conway hall, approx 30 mins walking through some great central London sites, or one 20-25 min bus journey. The shenanigans commence at 9pm, giving you enough time to eat dinner and arrive at the party after the conference during the day. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes, as we will have DJs until 4am.  As the party venue has a slightly smaller capacity than the conference venue, PLEASE ARRIVE BY 11pm to maximise your chances of entry.

If you are a wheelchair user please contact us, as we have to inform the venue and reduce the capacity for health & safety reasons.
