We're thrilled to be highlighting talented ropey people from our own community in an intimate performance evening. For rope fans, performance fans, kinksters and anyone who's curious to see what a real rope scene looks like.
The first part of the evening will consist of three performances from our community members. There will be some free tying time towards the end, however you are welcome to come just to watch.
Lineup:
Quartz and Peach
Quartz (they/them) is a queer, neurodivergent, disabled rope switch, performance artist and teacher. They love blending Japanese-informed rope bondage with somatic and bio-mechanic techniques. They are interested in the grounding effect rope can have on the senses, and in the healing power of trauma-informed, properly negotiated touch. quartzrope.com, @switchyquartz on insta, @quartzrope on fet
Peach (they/them) is Quartz’ 24/7 dominant and a bottoming teacher for Brighton Rope. They are a fat, disabled AuDHDer, and are passionate about trauma-informed rope/kink for survivors and marginalised people. @peachyropes on insta & fet

RopeyRevolver
RopeyRevolver (she/her) is a neurodivergent rope switch who explores mental health and meditation through self-tying, while in her spare time combining her love of art, photography and aerial to create decorative ties and concepts for photoshoots.
She will be sharing a unique self-tying performance with us as part of our evening highlighting members of the Brighton Rope community. ropeyrevolver.co.uk, @ropeyrevolver on insta

Sara and June
Sara (they/them) and June (they/she) are partners, currently exploring various aspects of rope. With no strict top/bottom dynamic, their practice often seeks playfulness and freedom, with a dash of brat taming. They also enjoy the combination of multi-layered sensory experiences to soothe neurotic minds. @june.rope on insta, @june_rope on fet

NB: this is a 'dry' event and no alcohol will be sold or available on the premises. There will be limited non-alcoholic drinks available (for free) and you are welcome to bring your own snacks or non-alcoholic drinks.
Venue
Our performance evening will be held at Open Space Studios, in Hove, which is a beautiful dance studio with 16 hard points, a wooden sprung floor and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. The space is 10-15 mins walk from Brighton Station, with a bus stop very close by. There is on-road parking available.
Access
Open Space Studios is accessed via a sloped driveway from the street which is a little steep at points but step-free. There is one small step up into the building, however we have a portable ramp which is compatible with electric and manual wheelchairs, that can be used via very wide barn doors. There is one toilet which is not a disabled toilet, and a small cloakroom. The cloakroom can be used as a breakout room if you are overwhelmed in the main space. No dogs are allowed, including support animals (venue's rule, not ours).
There are some folding chairs and a small bench at the venue. The rest of the seating will be on the floor, where there will be some floor mats and bolsters. However, if you want more comfort please do bring blankets, propping items or anything else you find helpful.
If you intend to tie, we have a communal rope box which you are welcome to borrow rope from, and rope will be available for sale, otherwise please do bring your own ropes. If you are suspending, please ensure you bring suspension equipment - we provide aerial straps from the ceiling down to a carabiner at around head height, and there may at times be bamboo available for suspension, but all other suspension equipment must be provided by yourself.
