Intermediate Class
Intermediate Class
This class is for anyone who has been to a beginners' class (with us or elsewhere) and isn't sure of the next steps on their rope journey.
We'll cover more complex knots and frictions to help you create structurally robust harnesses and freestyle shapes. You'll come out more confident, with more tools to play with on your rope journey going forward.
Including:
- New knots: the double column tie and inline single column tie/hojo cuff
- New frictions: X frictions and half moon friction
- Armbinder harness
- Beginnings of the box tie/TK/gote
Skill requirement
Riggers from this class should have attended a beginner's class (anywhere) and/or should know how to tie a single column tie, basic frictions and wrap rope around the body. There is no previous experience required for people being tied, however they should be confident in communicating their needs and boundaries to their tying partner. Both partners should be aware of consent principles and know how to negotiate in rope. If you're not sure whether you meet the requirements, please ask us.
Tickets for this class are sold in pairs.
Please buy one ticket per tying pair. This class is not suitable for people attending on their own. If you don't have a rope partner, please use our fetlife or discord to find someone to tie with during the class.
We have a zero-tolerance policy around people attending classes as a voyeur. Our classes are not intended to be entertainment for non-participants, and if you are suspected of using the class for this purpose you will be asked to leave.
What to bring/wear
Communal rope is available if you don’t have your own rope, and mats are provided. Bring your own comfort items. Wear anything comfortable (jeans not recommended for people tying). Switching (swapping tied/tying roles) encouraged but not required.
Low Cost Tickets
We have a number of low-cost tickets for each class we teach, and you can book a low-cost ticket on our booking form. If you need a low-cost ticket and we have sold out of these, please email us. Depending on our sales for the class in question, we may be able to offer further low-cost tickets.
COVID policy/code of conduct
You must read and agree to our code of conduct, safety waiver and COVID-19 policy in order to book onto this course (you'll be asked to do this on the checkout form). Our COVID-19 policy includes providing proof of LFT test taken within 24hrs of the class.
Refund Policy
Tickets can be refunded up to 7 days before an event. Cancellations within 7 days of an event will not be refunded.
All of our classes are LGBTQ+, disability and neurodivergence led and centred
If you do not identify as LGBTQ+, you are welcome in our classes, but please be mindful that you are a guest in a safe space, and respect everyone around you. If you cannot do this, you will be asked to leave.
Venue:
The class will be taking place at Open Space Studios in Hove.
The space is 10-15 mins walk from Brighton Station, with a bus stop very close by. There is on-road parking available.
Access
Open Space Studios is accessed via a sloped driveway from the street which is a little steep at points but step-free. There is one small step up into the building, however we have a portable ramp which is compatible with electric and manual wheelchairs, that can be used via very wide barn doors. There is one toilet which is not a disabled toilet, and a small cloakroom. The cloakroom can be used as a breakout room if you are overwhelmed in the main space. Ambient music will be played at a low volume during the event. No dogs are allowed, including support animals (venue's rule, not ours).
