Empowering Your Child, End Bullying: FREE Parent Workshop
As part of Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services continued Community Conversation Series, we are excited to bring Box Out Bullying to Bristol! Their highly interactive bullying prevention parent workshop series Keeping Kids Safe equips attendees with the skills to identify bullying, to work collaboratively with school faculty and administration, and to create a safe and supportive environment for children to thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally. Each session is comprised of:
A Parent Workshop for the Whole Community
6:00 PM | Open to the Public
The conversation continues that evening when Box Out Bullying opens its doors to parents, caregivers, educators, and community members.
The interactive parent workshop takes a practical look at bullying and the challenges children face when navigating friendships, conflict, exclusion, social pressure, and online interactions.
The discussion focuses not only on what adults should do when bullying occurs, but also on how families can help children develop the grit, resilience, confidence, empathy, and communication skills they need to handle challenges.
Parents will receive practical ideas for:
Talking with children about difficult social situations
Recognizing when a child may need additional support
Helping children respond to conflict appropriately
Encouraging resilience without dismissing a child's concerns
Knowing when to involve a teacher, counselor, or other trusted adult
Continuing conversations about kindness, inclusion, and empathy at home
The Box Out Bullying Interactive Parent Workshop is designed to give families tools they can continue using well after the evening ends.

Bringing Box Out Bullying to Bristol
Box Out Bullying is a national touring anti-bullying theater program that combines interactive live performance with research-based bullying prevention strategies, all presented in an engaging, age-appropriate way. With tailored programs for lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school, and junior high students, Box Out Bullying provides an impactful experience for students in grades K–8.
This special event is part of Box Out Bullying’s broader national touring program, bringing a full-scale, high-production-value theater experience directly to the community. The presentation features professional actors with educational backgrounds and school-performance experience whose youthful energy and relatability help make the message especially powerful for students. It also provides an opportunity for students from multiple schools to come together and experience the program as a community.
Supporting Connecticut’s Positive School Climate Goals
Box Out Bullying not only complements, but augments Connecticut’s approach to building safe, supportive, and welcoming school environments. The Connecticut State Department of Education emphasizes that creating a healthy learning environment is a shared responsibility and that students benefit when schools foster positive relationships, belonging, respect, and physical and emotional safety.
Box Out Bullying brings those same priorities to life through helping students recognize bullying and exclusion, understand the difference between conflict and bullying, practice being supportive bystanders, and develop practical ways to respond when they see something that isn't right.

The Box Out Bullying assembly program also supports the broader goal of school-family-community partnership by giving students, educators, and families a shared language for talking about respect, inclusion, empathy, and positive relationships. Connecticut’s current school climate guidance specifically encourages districts to develop welcoming and supportive school environments and identifies bullying prevention, identification, and response as part of this work.
For Bristol, the event provides an engaging community-based opportunity to reinforce these priorities and give students a memorable experience that supports the work already happening in their schools.
