Description
Are you and your precious cargo as safe as you can be when you are towing a horse trailer? The car and trailer towing test was scrapped by the Government in 2021, meaning car license holders can tow by default, but are you sure of your towing skills?
Are you confident in reversing into any parking spot or out of any situation you might find yourself in? Can you hitch up and unhitch the trailer easily or do you have to ask for help? Are you sure you've done it properly? Do you know how to drive to give your horse the smoothest possible ride? Do you know what safety checks you should be carrying out on your trailer?
You might already have a trailer and be towing but want the reassurance of a lesson to boost your knowledge and confidence, or perhaps you're thinking of investing in a trailer and want to make sure you have some training before you head out on the road with your horse on board. Whatever your situation, professional trainer Paul Wheeler is here to help. He is running a special clinic with the BHS, offering two-hour sessions, in pairs, specially for those who tow, or want to tow, horses. You need to bring your own vehicle and trailer, and the training will incorporate safety checks, hitching/unhitching, reversing practice and road driving.
