How can we have a better relationship with ourselves? How can we have a better relationship with the world?

In our next six-week course, The Heart’s Release, we will explore a set of traditional Buddhist meditation practices, the Brahma Viharas, designed to cultivate loving-kindness (Metta), compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity. These qualities have the power to transform the way we habitually relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. They help us navigate life's challenges with greater ease, uncover deeper connections, and ultimately lead us toward a profound sense of freedom.

With these practices, we can transcend the limitations that often make our daily lives feel difficult or unfulfilling. We can strengthen emotional resilience, deepen relationships, and connect with others with greater confidence and warmth. As a result, we begin to experience less stress and worry, allowing our lives to flourish.

In Buddhism, these practices can even lead to Enlightenment, a state characterized by boundless freedom, compassion and wisdom. Working with our minds with the Metta Bhavana brings us closer to this profound vision.

The course will include guided meditation, reflection and small group discussions. Whether you’re new to meditation or already familiar with Metta Bhavana, this course is open to anyone seeking practical guidance, deeper understanding and inspiration.

Discover the power of meditation and loving-kindness to reshape the way you relate to yourself and the world. Join us on this journey and find out where these transformative practices could lead you.

Donations

This course is by donation. We are completely reliant on your gifts to run these events, and to keep them accessible for those without the means to give financially. We'd suggest a donation of £140/£100 for the whole 6-week course, depending on your income.

FAQ

  • Can you claim Gift Aid on my donation?

Yes, we are able to claim Gift Aid on your course donation. Please tick the box at checkout to enable us to collect Gift Aid on your donation.

  • Can I come if I'm new or if I'm not a Buddhist?

Yes! This course is open to all, and newcomers are very welcome. There will be people with a range of experience on this course, including people who have been practicing Buddhism or meditation for many years, as well as many people who are completely new.

  • I can't make all the dates, can I still do the course?

If you can’t attend the whole course, then it is ok to miss a week or two of the series. However, it is good to make as many as you can. The material in the courses develops over the weeks, and you may find it difficult to follow if you miss too many. We do ask that everyone is at least able to make the first week of the course, so that we can all start the course together.

  • What if I can't afford to pay for the course?

This course is by donation. We do this so that anyone experiencing severe financial difficulties can still attend this course.

Obviously our courses do require money to run, so we rely on the generous donations from those that can afford to pay the full cost in order to subsidise those who cannot afford to do so.
